What is the best time to visit Andaman?

The Andaman is a tropical island. July to September is a rainy season. The best time to visit is from October to May, especially if you are interested in exploring the different water sports offered. The visibility is good and the seas are calmer. But you can expect light showers in November and December.

What is the currency in Andaman? Where should I get my currency exchanged?

Indian rupee is the currency used in Andaman. Always carry cash with you as ATMs are only available at Port Blair and Havelock islands. The facility for exchange of currency is only available in Port Blair. Credit cards are only acceptable in big hotels and resorts.

What are the local transport options in Andaman?

Though you can get rickshaws or auto rides, it is better to hire a prepaid taxi. Taxis are also included in tour packages. There are private and government ferries which take you from Port Blair to other islands. But the ticket is available only at the counter on first come first served basis.

You can hire a bicycle on a daily basis at Port Blair and Havelock. Carry a license and helmet if you wish to hire a bike. There are no petrol stations and the fuel is sold in cans. If on a shoestring budget, you can travel by bus from Port Blair to Northern Andaman.
